Job Responsibilities The Director of Sanitation is responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise in the development and maintenance of effective Sanitation programs and supporting Environmental Management for the manufacturing plants, and processing and storage locations while assuring compliance with company policies, FDA, state and local regulatory requirements, and SQF and Organic certification.
This is a NIGHT SHIFT position, with occasional days.
- Comply with all environmental regulations including GMP's, HACCP and OSHA - Maintain a clean and safe environment while observing all PPE standards and precautions.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as FDA standards.
- Maintain high standards QA, QC, and sanitation for both machines and products.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Ensure that sanitary programs and associated documentation are consistently executed across multiple facilities within a six (6) mile radius.
- In cooperation with Plant Managers and local Sanitation teams, structure each plant's Food Safety & Sanitation programs so each site is inspection ready every day.
- Participates in microbiological investigations and fosters a continuous improvement culture as it pertains to sanitary systems in all facilities.
- Provides oversight for environmental pathogen control validation through sanitation processes.
- Develop plant Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
Ensure practices and protocols are up to date and adhere to all current regulatory guidance as well as company standards.
- Provides oversight and documents corrective action planning and recommendations to remediate any gaps with regular updates to leadership.
- Ensures all Plant Sanitation and Food Safety management are trained to follow the practices and protocols.
Act as liaison with federal and state agencies to ensure plant compliance with regulatory issues.

- Demonstrate integrity and dedication and have a positive work attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (extended periods of sitting/standing, pull, push, carry, lift, minimum of 50lbs) - Experience in developing/building Sanitation systems or work experience in an organization with strong Sanitation and Food Safety systems.
- Working knowledge of food technology, processing, and microbiology - Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP and Federal/State food regulations - Strong computer/statistical skills, particularly related to data collection, manipulation, and reporting.
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) - Ability to communicate and work with diverse workforce.
- Ability to work and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel, independently, between facilities.
- Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment.
Must be able to work in a cold environment.
Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
- Five (5) years of experience in Sanitation of a food manufacturing required.
