The basic functions of the Accounting Assistant are to process the day-to-day accounting tasks for the organization and to support analysis for reporting to guide management in the business decision-making process necessary to facilitate the achievement of desired business results on a weekly, quarterly, and monthly basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Assist with month and year-end close Process incoming mail concerning billing and invoicing Reconcile payable reports to ensure all amounts paid were accurate Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts payable Maintain a system to account for financial transactions by following a chart of accounts Maintain accuracy of accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions Balance accounts by reconciling entries in a timely fashion Organize and update relevant data using computer applications Accurately and efficiently type and word-process various documents and electronic information Maintain historical records OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Support other staff with projects as needed Work closely with the Sr.
Director of Finance and Chief Finance Officer Complete any additional assignments as requested by Management.

QUALIFICATIONSBACKGROUND SCREENING Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.
Must pass pre-employment drug test CERTIFICATIONS None specified EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Associate Degree, two or more years accounting or finance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Working experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, G/L Proficient in Word and Excel Sage knowledge Strong attention to detail Strong organizational and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, and percentages Strong oral and written communication skills Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines Ability to interact with all levels of management and team members Non-profit and/or Charitable Foundation skills helpful Ability to consistently meet all deadlines TRAVEL Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for training and/or other business purposes.

WORKING CONDITIONS Our offices, neighborhood clubhouses, and school-based clubs are fast-paced work environments and are strategically located in areas of St.
Lucie County where youth need us most.
Based on the organization's needs, flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St.
Lucie County is required due to changing business demands.
General office conditions are the standard work environment (standing, sitting, and walking Boys & Girls Clubs of St.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands:
some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity.
This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; computer viewing, and keyboard entry.
Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds.
Daily operation of personal motor vehicle relevant to carrying out job duties is required for this position.
Ability to think strategically and ability to sit for more than four hours per day.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
